how do you know when the universe is trying to tell you something?
on the sunday that just passed i decided i was going to go out the movies, and that i was going to see lady in the water. "it's been a really long time sice i went out to see a movie" i thought to myself "and i know i like m.night shamalyan(?) movies, so this is a good idea"
i decided i was going to go on monday
dinner ran late and monday didn't work out
"no big deal" thought i "i have wednesday off and no plans for dinner or otherwise, i will go on wednesday"
wednesday comes, rory and i go through our usual day off of getting things done around the house
7:45 rolls around and rory decides hes wants to order in some beers for after the movie
beer delivery guy tells rory that they will get here in 30-45 minutes, we have to leave in an hour to catch our bus to the coluseum, the theater closest to us
"great" thinks lindsay "beer will get here in enough time to enjoy one before we leave"
beer gets here at 9:15
"never fret!" says lindsay "we still have time to get to south keys from here, its a slightly later show, so we'll only miss the first ten minutes"
lindsay and rory go outside to catch the bus. what seemed like light rain from the inside is actually TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR, raining lions and bears. rory and lindsay get on the bus and start talking
"is the movie on any later elsewhere?"
"well i read that its on at 10:40 at silvercity in gloucester"
"silver city has better theaters, and south keys is pretty long walk from the o-train"
"yeah we'll get soaked, plus if we go to silver city from here the weather might let up a little and we'll get there super early! we could play at the arcade for a bit!"
so we transfer buses, in the 30 seconds it takes to run from the bus stop to the bus station, with an umbrealla mind you, our shoes and pants are soaked through
rory and i get on the 95 at tunney's pasture, loaded with shouting teenagers of course, and take 40 minute bus ride to silver city
as we are walking to the theater, i notice the parking lot is a little empty, but i just put it to being a really bad night to go out
we get to the theatre try to go in, but the doors are locked
we look inside, and the lights are out
rory and i assume its some kind of temporary power outage, and it will reopen when the problem is solved
i mean if it closed for the night, but has been advertising late movies that people might ,oh i dunno, say, bus out all the way from westboro in pouring rain for, they might put a sign on the door or something
so we wait out side paitiently for someone to tell us what is going on, or for some sign of anything amoungst a group of shouting teenagers, AGIAN
after about 15 minutes, we overhear someone, who obviously works at silvercity telling someone else that they are closed, so we ask, are you closed for the night? yes we are
DAMNIT
so we bus home, pickup some nachos, a crossword puzzle book and a froster
and here i sit in front of this computer typing away my experience
i just find it funny that so many last second desicions and and strange circumstances
leaves me here, much damper, crabbier and one less movie watched
but the night is young and not a total throw away, we still have some beers, and cross word uzzle book, and copy of buffalo 66 waiting to be seen
